Seated Rounded Back Stretch

Seated with the knees bent and the hands clasped over them, round the back and drop the head toward the knees, then sit tall again.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the floor, knees bent, feet flat, hands clasped over the knees, back tall.

Steps

  1. Round the back from the neck down, the head dropping toward the knees.
  2. Let the hands hold the knees as the back stretches behind you.
  3. Roll up slowly to sit tall.

Common mistakes

Pulling hard on the knees: let the back round by itself. Rushing the roll: move one section of the spine at a time. Shoulders hunched to the ears: keep them loose and down.

Breathing

Exhale rounding, inhale sitting tall.
