Lying Lower Back Stretch
Lying on the back with the legs long, arch the lower back gently off the floor and let it settle; the pelvic tilt with straight legs.
How to do it
Setup
Lying face up, legs long and together, arms by the sides with the palms down.
Steps
- Tip the pelvis so the lower back lifts into a small arch.
- Keep the head, shoulders and buttocks on the floor.
- Let the back settle flat again and repeat slowly.
Common mistakes
Buttocks rising with the arch: keep them heavy; only the waist lifts. Forcing a big arch: stop at a gentle curve. Pushing through the heels to lift: let the legs rest on the floor.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
