Seal Push-Up
Face down, the arms press the chest up to straight elbows and lower it again, hips on the floor; the lower back relaxes into the arch.
How to do it
Setup
Face down on a mat, hands flat beside the shoulders, legs long, tops of the feet down.
Steps
- Press the floor away until the elbows are straight.
- Keep the hips down; only the arms work.
- Lower the chest slowly, then press up again.
Common mistakes
Hips peeling off the floor: stop the press just before they lift. Clenching the glutes and the back: let them go soft so the lower back can arch. Shoulders up by the ears: push the floor away and keep the neck long.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
