Roll Ball Psoas (Abdominal Region)

Face down on the forearms, a massage ball set to one side of the navel lets the belly sink toward the psoas, the deep hip flexor along the spine.

How to do it

Setup

Face down on the forearms, legs long, a massage ball under one side of the belly, beside the navel.

Steps

  1. Relax the belly and sink onto the ball slowly; the forearms take most of the weight.
  2. Breathe into the belly and let each exhale take you a little deeper.
  3. Ease off the ball slowly, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Dropping the full weight at once: sink in gradually as the belly softens. Holding the breath against the pressure: slow belly breaths let the ball in. A pulse, tingling or sharp pain under the ball: come off it at once and shift the spot.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
