Ring Long Arms Push-Up Hold

A hold in gymnastic rings from the knees: the rings drift apart until the arms are straight and wide and the chest is low, and the position is held.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling, rings at about hip height, a hand in each, arms straight.

Steps

  1. Lean forward and let the rings travel out to the sides.
  2. Stop with the arms wide at a depth you can hold with straight elbows.
  3. Hold, then squeeze the rings back together to rise.

Common mistakes

Going deeper than you can pull back from: stop early and build the depth over weeks. Bending the elbows to survive the hold: straight arms, or a higher position. Hips sagging: one line from the knees to the head.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
