Ring Arm Curl

The lean-back bodyweight curl on gymnastic rings: curl the body up until the hands reach the head; the free-hanging rings let the wrists turn as they need.

How to do it

Setup

Facing the rings' anchor, a ring in each hand, arms straight, palms up, body leaning back in one line from the heels.

Steps

  1. Curl the rings toward the forehead, elbows up at shoulder height.
  2. Keep the rings from drifting apart as the body rises.
  3. Lower slowly until the arms are straight.

Common mistakes

Elbows dropping into a row: they stay up and point at the rings. Rings swinging wide at the top: hold them in line with the shoulders. Hips sagging: squeeze the glutes, one line from heels to head.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
