Resistance Band Standing Single-Arm Lateral Shoulder Extension

A straight arm pulled back from in front of the thigh to past the hip against a looped band anchored in front; the shoulder extends against the band.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, facing an anchor at hip height, a flat looped band in one hand, the arm straight and angled forward.

Steps

  1. Pull the straight arm down and back until the hand passes the hip.
  2. Squeeze the back of the shoulder for a beat.
  3. Let the arm return forward slowly; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Bending the elbow to pull: the arm stays straight; the shoulder moves it. Leaning forward as the hand goes back: trunk upright. Shrugging the working shoulder: blade down.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale returning.
