Resistance Band Reverse Hyperextension

The reverse hyperextension off a flat bench with a looped band above the knees; pushing the knees against it keeps the side glutes working as the legs rise.

How to do it

Setup

Face down on a flat bench, hips at the edge, a looped band just above the knees, legs hanging.

Steps

  1. Press the knees out against the band.
  2. Raise the legs until they are level with the torso, band still taut.
  3. Lower slowly, knees still apart.

Common mistakes

Lifting the legs far past the torso: the lower back arches; level is the top. Band slack at the knees: keep pressing out. Swinging for height: slow and controlled.

Breathing

Exhale as the legs rise, inhale on the way down.
