Resistance Band Lying Floor Chest Press

The floor press against a looped band passed under the upper back; the band pulls hardest at the top, where a floor press with weights eases off.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the floor, knees bent, the band under the upper back and held in both hands at the chest.

Steps

  1. Press both hands straight up over the chest.
  2. Hold the top for a beat, where the band pulls hardest.
  3. Lower until the backs of the upper arms touch the floor.

Common mistakes

Band sliding up toward the neck: keep it across the shoulder blades. Arms snapping down: lower slowly against the band. Wrists bending back under the band: keep them straight.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
