Massage Stick Neck
A massage stick held by both handles behind the head rolls up and down the back of the neck, from the skull to the top of the shoulders.
How to do it
Setup
Seated tall on a bench, a massage stick held by both handles behind the head, resting across the back of the neck.
Steps
- Press the stick lightly into the back of the neck.
- Roll it slowly down to the top of the shoulders and back up to the skull.
- Pause on a tight spot and breathe before rolling on.
Common mistakes
Pressing hard on the spine: let the stick ride the muscles on either side of it. Dropping the chin to the chest: keep the head level and the neck long. Rolling on through dizziness, numbness or tingling: stop and lower the stick.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
