Machine Decline Chest Press
Seated in a plate-loaded lever press, drive the handles forward and down from the lower chest to straight arms; the downward path loads the lower chest.
How to do it
Setup
Back against the reclined pad, handles at the lower chest, feet flat, plates loaded on both arms.
Steps
- Drive the handles forward and down to locked arms.
- Squeeze the lower chest at lockout.
- Let the levers back until the handles reach the lower chest.
Common mistakes
Handles meeting the upper chest: adjust the seat until they start at the lower chest. Shoulders rolling forward to finish the press: the blades stay pinned to the pad. Letting the plates crash at the bottom: return under control, just short of the rest.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
