Machine Deadlift (Plate-Loaded)
The deadlift on a plate-loaded lever with a handle at each side; the arm sets the path, so the job is the leg drive and the flat back.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on the platform between the handles, feet hip-width, hips low, a neutral grip; chest up, back flat.
Steps
- Stand up by driving the legs into the platform.
- Finish tall, shoulders over the hips, arms long.
- Lower along the lever's arc until the plates nearly touch down.
Common mistakes
Leaning back at the top: the machine holds the path; just stand tall. Squatting with the chest dropping: keep the chest up as the hips rise. Letting the plates slam at the bottom: the lever lands softly or the set is over.
Breathing
Big breath at the bottom, exhale after lockout.
