Locust Yoga Pose (Iron Man Pose)

Face down with the hands clasped behind the back, lift the chest, the arms and the straight legs off the floor together and hold; the whole back of the body works.

How to do it

Setup

Face down, legs long and together, hands clasped behind the back on the buttocks, forehead on the floor.

Steps

  1. Lift the chest, the head and the clasped hands, reaching the knuckles toward the feet.
  2. Lift the straight legs off the floor at the same time and hold.
  3. Lower slowly and rest the forehead down.

Common mistakes

Throwing the head back: keep the neck long, eyes on the floor a little ahead. Bending the knees to lift the legs higher: keep them straight; lower is fine. Lifting from the lower back alone: spread the effort from the upper back to the heels.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
