Lever Push-Up with Towels
A push-up with both hands on towels in which one hand slides forward past the head as the chest lowers on the other arm, then slides back as you press up; a step toward the one-arm push-up.
How to do it
Setup
High plank on a smooth floor, a folded towel under each hand, feet wide.
Steps
- Lower on one arm while the other hand slides forward on its towel.
- Keep the reaching arm straight; it only steadies.
- Press up and draw the hand back under the shoulder; alternate sides.
Common mistakes
Sending the hand out so far it cannot come back: shorten the reach. Pelvis rolling after the reaching hand: brace hard and keep it level. Bending the reaching arm to help: it stays long.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
