Kettlebell Sumo Squat off Stepbox

The kettlebell sumo squat standing on two step boxes, one foot on each, so the bell can sink below the feet for a deeper squat.

How to do it

Setup

One foot on each of two steps, wide stance, toes out, a kettlebell hanging by its handle between the legs.

Steps

  1. Squat down, the bell sinking between the steps.
  2. Keep the knees over the toes and the chest up.
  3. Stand up through the heels, the bell rising straight up.

Common mistakes

Steps sliding or of different heights: use two solid, matching steps set to the stance. Bell touching down at the bottom: set the steps high enough for full depth. Knees collapsing inward: push them out.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
