Kettlebell Standing Slingshots

A kettlebell passed around the waist from hand to hand, in front and behind the back, while the hips and shoulders stay square.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, a kettlebell hanging in one hand at the side.

Steps

  1. Swing the bell across in front and hand it to the other hand at the navel.
  2. Carry it round the side and pass it back behind the back to the first hand.
  3. Keep it circling smoothly; change direction after the set.

Common mistakes

Hips swaying with the bell: brace the trunk; only the arms carry it round. Fumbling the pass behind the back: slow down until the handoff is clean. Bell swinging wide: keep it close to the body.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
