Hands to Feet Pada Hastasana
Reach the arms overhead, then fold forward from the hips with the legs straight, bringing the hands to the feet and the head toward the shins.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall with the feet together and the arms hanging at the sides.
Steps
- Raise the arms overhead and lengthen the spine.
- Fold forward from the hips, arms leading, legs straight.
- Bring the hands to the feet and the head toward the shins; hold and breathe.
- Rise slowly with the arms overhead, then lower them.
Common mistakes
Folding from the waist with a round back: bend at the hips, the spine long. Locking the knees to reach the floor: bend them a little rather than round the back. Straining the neck toward the shins: let the head hang toward them.
Breathing
Inhale reaching up, exhale folding down.
