Forward Press Shoulders Mobilization

Standing facing a rack upright, press the front of the shoulder and the arm forward into the post and hold, nothing moving; the front of the shoulder works.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a rack upright, standing tall, the front of one shoulder and the arm against the post.

Steps

  1. Press the arm forward into the post as if raising it in front.
  2. Hold the push, the body upright.
  3. Ease off slowly, then work the other arm.

Common mistakes

Leaning the whole body into the post: stand tall; only the arm presses. Shrugging to push harder: keep the shoulder down. Holding the breath with the effort: breathe steadily through the push.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
