Explosive Dynamic Plank

The plank to push-up done explosively: both arms push the body from the forearms up to straight arms at once, then drop back together.

How to do it

Setup

Forearm plank, elbows under the shoulders, feet hip-width, body in one line.

Steps

  1. Push hard from the forearms so both hands land under the shoulders at once.
  2. Hold the straight-arm plank for a beat, hips level.
  3. Drop back onto both forearms together, softly, and go again.

Common mistakes

One arm leading the other: both hands leave and land together; that is the difference from the plank to push-up. Crashing onto the elbows: land softly with the elbows under the shoulders. Hips piking to get up: the body rises in one line.

Breathing

Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
