Dumbbell Single-Leg Step-Up
The step-up on a low step platform with one dumbbell in one hand and the whole set on one leg; the same foot leads every rep.
How to do it
Setup
One dumbbell in one hand at the side, the other hand empty, standing in front of a low step platform, the working foot flat on it.
Steps
- Drive through the foot on the step and stand up tall.
- Tap the trailing foot beside it and step back down.
- Keep the same foot on the step for the set, then switch the foot and the hand.
Common mistakes
Bell pulling the torso to one side: brace the trunk and stay level. Pushing off the back foot: it only follows; the lead leg lifts. Torso pitching forward over the step: stand tall under the load.
Breathing
Exhale stepping up, inhale down.
