Dumbbell Kneeling Hold to Stand Clean Grip

With a dumbbell racked on each shoulder, rise from tall kneeling through a half-kneeling lunge to standing, then kneel back down.

How to do it

Setup

Tall kneeling, a dumbbell racked on each shoulder, elbows forward, torso upright.

Steps

  1. Bring one foot forward into a half-kneeling lunge.
  2. Drive up through the front foot to stand, the bells steady on the shoulders.
  3. Step back down to one knee, then both; lead with the other leg next.

Common mistakes

Bells rolling off the shoulders: keep the elbows up and forward. Leaning forward to get up: keep the torso tall and drive with the front leg. Dropping onto the knees: lower each one slowly.

Breathing

Exhale standing, inhale kneeling down.
