Dumbbell Single-Arm Floor Press

The dumbbell floor press with one bell for the whole set; the free side lets the trunk turn, and holding it square is part of the work.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the floor, knees bent, feet flat, one dumbbell over the chest, the free hand on the floor beside you.

Steps

  1. Lower the bell until the upper arm touches the floor.
  2. Keep both shoulder blades pressed into the floor.
  3. Press back up; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Rolling toward the working side: brace and keep the hips down. Elbow slamming the floor: lower it softly. Wrist bent back under the bell: keep it straight.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
