Dumbbell Seated Upright Alternate Squeeze Press

Seated upright, both dumbbells held out in front at chest height with the bells meeting; one hand at a time comes back to the chest and presses out again.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the end of a bench, back straight, a dumbbell upright in each hand at arm's length in front of the chest, the bells touching.

Steps

  1. Bring one bell back to the chest, the other held still in front.
  2. Press it straight out again until the bells meet.
  3. Repeat with the other hand, arms at chest height throughout.

Common mistakes

Waiting arm drooping toward the lap: keep it at chest height. Leaning back to hold the bells up: sit tall, lighter bells. Bells clashing at the finish: bring them together, do not bang them.

Breathing

Exhale on each press, inhale returning.
