Dumbbell Push-Up Front Raise

A push-up with the hands on two dumbbells; at the top one bell is raised straight forward to shoulder height and set back down, alternating sides.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands on two dumbbells under the shoulders, feet wide.

Steps

  1. Do a push-up, chest to just above the floor.
  2. At the top, raise one bell straight forward to shoulder height.
  3. Set it down quietly and raise the other after the next push-up.

Common mistakes

Hips rotating as the bell rises: wider feet and a braced trunk. Swinging the bell up: lift it slowly on a straight arm. Round dumbbells rolling under the hands: hex dumbbells sit flat.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
