Dumbbell Reverse Lunge from Deficit

The dumbbell reverse lunge stepping back off a low platform; the front foot stays up, so the rear knee travels further down.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on a low step, dumbbells at the sides, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Reach one foot back off the step to the floor.
  2. Lower until the back knee nearly touches down.
  3. Drive through the front foot and step back up.

Common mistakes

Short step back: the front knee shoots forward; reach long. Toppling as the foot leaves the step: brace and move slowly. Bells swinging on the return: step back up under control.
