Dumbbell Pullover on Floor
The dumbbell pullover lying on the floor instead of across a bench; the floor ends each rep behind the head and keeps the shoulders out of a deep stretch.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, knees bent, feet flat, one dumbbell held over the chest in both hands, arms nearly straight.
Steps
- Lower the dumbbell in an arc behind the head until it touches the floor lightly.
- Keep the elbows slightly bent and the lower back down.
- Bring it back over the chest along the same arc.
Common mistakes
Dropping the bell onto the floor: touch it lightly. Arching the lower back as the arms go overhead: ribs down, back flat. Bending the elbows into a press: the angle stays fixed.
Breathing
Deep inhale lowering behind the head, exhale pulling over.
