Dumbbell Overhead Walking Lunge
Walking lunges with a dumbbell locked out overhead in each hand; the arms stay vertical while the legs travel, so the shoulders and trunk work the whole way.
How to do it
Setup
A dumbbell pressed overhead in each hand, arms locked and vertical, a clear path ahead.
Steps
- Step into a lunge with the bells held still above the shoulders.
- Drive up and bring the back foot through to the next step.
- Keep the ribs down so the arms stay over the ears.
Common mistakes
Arms drifting forward of the head: lighten the bells until they stay stacked. Lower back arching under the load: brace before each step. Elbows softening on long walks: set the bells down when the lockout goes.
Breathing
Steady with the steps.
