Dumbbell Narrow Squat Lunge

The short-step reverse lunge holding one dumbbell upright at the chest; the bell in front keeps the trunk tall while the front thigh does the work.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet together, one dumbbell held upright against the chest in both hands.

Steps

  1. Step a short way back and sink until the back knee is just behind the front heel.
  2. Keep the bell pinned to the chest and the front heel down.
  3. Drive through the front foot back to standing and switch legs.

Common mistakes

Bell drifting away from the chest: hold it close so it does not pull you forward. Front heel rising: go less deep. Long step back: keep it short so the knees stay close.

Breathing

Inhale stepping back, exhale rising.
