Cable Squat
A back squat with a short bar across the upper back, tethered by a cable at each end to pulleys by the feet; the cables load the squat without free plates.
How to do it
Setup
Standing between the two floor pulleys, a bar across the upper back with a cable clipped to each end, feet shoulder-width.
Steps
- Squat to below level, the chest up under the bar.
- Keep the knees over the toes and the bar level.
- Drive up through the whole foot to stand.
Common mistakes
Standing off-center between the pulleys: one cable pulls harder; set the feet in the middle. Leaning forward as the cables pull: stay tall with the elbows under the bar. Letting the bar tilt: press it evenly with both hands.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
