Dumbbell Lying on Floor Hammer Press

The dumbbell floor press with the palms facing each other; the floor stops each rep at the upper arms and the neutral grip keeps the elbows close.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the floor, legs straight, a dumbbell in each hand over the chest, palms facing each other.

Steps

  1. Lower the bells until the backs of the upper arms touch the floor.
  2. Pause there without relaxing.
  3. Press back up, palms still facing each other.

Common mistakes

Bouncing the arms off the floor: pause, then press. Elbows flaring out: with this grip they stay close to the body. Letting the bells turn at the top: neutral from bottom to top.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
