Dumbbell Low Fly

A standing fly from low to high with dumbbells: the arms sweep up from the sides until the bells meet at shoulder height.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, bells at the sides, palms forward, elbows softly bent.

Steps

  1. Sweep the bells up and in until they meet at shoulder height.
  2. Pause where the bells meet, arms still soft.
  3. Lower them back to the sides along the same arc.

Common mistakes

Swinging the bells up with the hips: stand still, knees soft. Turning it into a front raise: the bells come together, not just up. Lifting above shoulder height: stop where the bells meet.

Breathing

Exhale on the sweep up, inhale lowering.
