Dumbbell Kneeling Hold to Stand

Two dumbbells stay locked out overhead the whole time while the body rises from kneeling to standing one leg at a time and kneels back down.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling tall, both bells pressed overhead on straight arms, ribs down.

Steps

  1. Step one foot forward into a half-kneel, arms still locked overhead.
  2. Drive through the front foot to stand, bringing the feet together.
  3. Step back down to one knee, then both, and lead with the other leg next rep.

Common mistakes

Bells drifting forward as you stand: keep them stacked over the shoulders. Arching the lower back to hold them up: ribs down, glutes tight. Dropping onto the knee: lower it softly.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
