Dumbbell Floor Fly
The dumbbell fly lying on the floor; the floor catches the upper arms at the bottom, so the stretch stops short of the shoulder's end range.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, knees bent, feet flat, bells over the chest, palms facing.
Steps
- Open the arms until the upper arms touch the floor lightly.
- Pause there without letting the arms rest.
- Draw them up until they meet above the sternum.
Common mistakes
Upper arms slamming into the floor: let them land softly. Relaxing on the floor between reps: keep the arms loaded. Bending the elbows into a press on the way up: the angle stays set.
Breathing
Inhale opening, exhale on the squeeze.
