Dumbbell Twisted Fly

The flat dumbbell fly with a twist at the top: the palms turn toward the face and the bells meet end to end over the chest.

How to do it

Setup

Flat bench, bells over the chest, palms facing each other, feet planted.

Steps

  1. Open the arms wide to a chest stretch.
  2. Turn the palms toward the face as the bells come back up.
  3. Touch the bells end to end, little fingers side by side.

Common mistakes

Twisting while the bells are low: turn only on the way up. Crashing the ends together: bring them in softly. Choosing your usual fly weight: the twist needs lighter bells.

Breathing

Inhale opening, exhale on the squeeze.
