Dumbbell Alternating Floor Press

The dumbbell floor press one arm at a time: one bell presses up while the other waits at the chest with its upper arm on the floor.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the floor, legs straight, a dumbbell in each hand at the sides of the chest, upper arms on the floor.

Steps

  1. Press one bell up over the chest.
  2. Lower it until the upper arm touches the floor.
  3. Press the other bell, and keep alternating.

Common mistakes

Torso rocking with each press: keep both shoulder blades on the floor. Waiting bell drifting away from the chest: keep it parked at the side of the chest. Dropping the working arm onto the floor: touch down softly.

Breathing

Exhale on each press, inhale lowering.
