Cable Ipsilateral Glute Dominant Step-Up

The glute-dominant cable step-up with the handle in the hand on the same side as the working leg, the other hand on the hip.

How to do it

Setup

Beside a low pulley, working foot on a box, the handle in the same-side hand, torso leaning forward.

Steps

  1. Drive the working heel down and rise onto the box.
  2. Keep the handle close to the working knee as you rise.
  3. Lower slowly with the lean held; switch sides after the set.

Common mistakes

Pelvis dipping toward the free side: keep it level. Handle swinging away from the leg: keep it close to the knee. Shoulders twisting toward the cable: square them to the box.

Breathing

Exhale stepping up, inhale down.
