Cable-Assisted Inverse Leg Curl

The inverse (Nordic) leg curl with a cable from a high pulley on the upper back, so the stack carries part of the body on the way down and up.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling with the ankles locked under the rollers, back to the stack, a bar from the high pulley held across the upper back.

Steps

  1. Lower the body forward in one line from knees to head.
  2. Let the cable slow the fall; the hamstrings brake as long as they can.
  3. Pull back up to kneeling with the hamstrings, the cable helping.

Common mistakes

Bending at the hips to shorten the lever: knees to head stays one straight line. Too much help from the stack: the last stretch of the lowering should still be hard. Bar slipping off the upper back: hold it pinned with both hands.

Breathing

Steady exhale through the descent.
