Bodyweight Peterson Step from StepBox

A single-leg step-down from a step box in which the standing heel rises as the knee travels forward, the free leg reaching down in front.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one leg on a step box, hands on the hips, the other leg straight in front.

Steps

  1. Let the standing heel rise as the knee drives forward over the toes.
  2. Reach the free foot down toward the floor in front.
  3. Press back up to standing with the heel down; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Pushing off the floor with the free foot: it only touches; the box leg does the work. Heel staying down: the lifting heel is what sets this step apart. Knee caving: track it over the middle toes.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
