Bodyweight Overhead Squat
The bodyweight squat with both arms held straight overhead; the raised arms demand an upright torso and open shoulders.
How to do it
Setup
Feet shoulder-width, toes slightly out, arms straight overhead, in line with the ears.
Steps
- Squat as deep as you can with the arms still over the head.
- Keep the chest up and the arms in line with the ears.
- Stand up without letting the arms drift forward.
Common mistakes
Arms falling forward at the bottom: stop where they can stay overhead. Heels lifting: widen the stance a little. Arching the lower back to keep the arms up: ribs down, depth later.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
