Barbell Standing Front Raise Over Head
The barbell front raise taken all the way overhead with straight arms; the bar ties both arms to one arc, so neither can lag.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet hip-width, the bar hanging in front of the thighs, overhand grip at shoulder-width, arms straight.
Steps
- Raise the bar in front with straight arms until it is overhead.
- Pause with the arms beside the ears, ribs down.
- Lower it to the thighs along the same arc.
Common mistakes
Bending the elbows as the bar climbs: that makes it a press; arms stay straight. Leaning back under the bar at the top: stop where the torso stays upright. Letting it drop to the thighs: lower it as slowly as it rose.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
