Barbell Standing Concentration Curl

Bent forward at the hips with a barbell hanging at arm's length under the shoulders, curl it toward the forehead while the upper arms stay vertical.

How to do it

Setup

Feet wide, knees soft, hinged until the torso is near parallel, back flat, bar hanging underhand at shoulder width.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar toward the forehead, upper arms hanging still.
  2. Hold the top for a beat.
  3. Lower to straight arms without rising from the hinge.

Common mistakes

Back rounding under the hanging bar: hinge at the hips with a flat back, or bend the knees more. Upper arms swinging forward to heave the bar: they hang vertical. Standing up between reps: hold the torso angle for the whole set.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
