Barbell Lying Preacher Curl

Lying face down on a flat bench with the upper arms resting on its end, curl the bar up from below the bench; the flat pad keeps the upper arms level.

How to do it

Setup

Lying face down along a flat bench, upper arms on its end, forearms over the edge, bar held underhand below.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar up toward the forehead, upper arms pressed to the bench.
  2. Stop when the forearms point straight up.
  3. Lower the bar back down below the bench under control.

Common mistakes

Upper arms sliding off the end: set the armpits right at the edge before the first rep. Bar dropping into the bottom: lower slowly, the elbows hang fully open there. Head lifting to watch the bar: keep the neck long and the chin tucked.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
