Barbell Seated Close-Grip Concentration Curl

Seated and leaning forward with both elbows braced on the inner thighs, curl a straight bar held with the hands close together; both arms work at once.

How to do it

Setup

Seated on the end of a bench, feet wide, torso leaning forward, elbows on the inner thighs, bar held underhand with the hands close.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar up to the chin.
  2. Keep both elbows pressed into the thighs.
  3. Lower until the arms hang straight.

Common mistakes

Straightening up to finish the curl: the torso stays leaned over. Elbows sliding off the thighs as the bar rises: set them firmly before each rep. Bar banging the knees at the bottom: stop just short of them.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
