Barbell Standing Bradford Press
The bar passes from the front of the shoulders to behind the head and back, just clearing the top of the head and never locking out.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet hip-width, bar at the collarbones, grip just wider than the shoulders.
Steps
- Press the bar just high enough to clear the top of the head.
- Lower it behind the head only to about ear level.
- Bring it back over the head to the collarbones and keep alternating.
Common mistakes
Locking out on every pass: the bar only clears the head, so the tension never leaves. Going deep behind the head: ear level is enough; the neck is not the target. Loading it heavy: take a light bar and keep a steady rhythm.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
