Barbell Pin Front Squat

The front squat stopped on a rack's safety pins at squat depth each rep; every rise starts from a dead stop.

How to do it

Setup

In a rack, pins set at squat depth, the bar racked on the front of the shoulders.

Steps

  1. Squat until the bar settles on the pins.
  2. Pause there, elbows up and back braced.
  3. Drive the bar up off the pins to standing.

Common mistakes

Bouncing the bar off the pins: let it settle. Losing the rack at the bottom: keep the elbows high on the pins. Pins set below your squat: set them where your own depth ends.

Breathing

Breathe in at the pins, exhale standing.
