Band Standing Incline Chest Press

The standing band chest press from a low anchor, the hands driving up and forward above the head; the upward path loads the upper chest.

How to do it

Setup

Back to a low anchor, split stance, the band's ends at the upper chest, elbows below the shoulders.

Steps

  1. Press both hands up and forward until the arms are straight above head height.
  2. Keep the ribs down so the back does not arch.
  3. Return the hands to the upper chest under control.

Common mistakes

Arching back to lift the hands higher: ribs down, glutes tight. Shrugging at the top: shoulders stay down away from the ears. Standing so close the band goes slack at the chest: step forward until it pulls from the start.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
