Band Low Chest Press

The band chest press from an anchor above head height, both hands pressing forward and down; the downward path loads the lower chest.

How to do it

Setup

Back to an anchor above head height, split stance, the band's ends in both hands at the chest.

Steps

  1. Press both hands forward and down until the arms are straight.
  2. Squeeze the chest with the hands low in front of the hips.
  3. Return to the chest slowly against the band.

Common mistakes

Shrugging as the hands go down: shoulders stay low and back. Arching the lower back to press: ribs down, glutes tight. Letting the band pull the hands back fast: the return is part of the rep.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
