Band Lying Straight Leg Raise
The lying straight-leg raise against a band anchored beyond the feet; the band pulls the legs down, so both the lift and the lowering work.
How to do it
Setup
On the back, a band looped round both ankles and anchored low beyond the feet, legs long, arms by the sides.
Steps
- Raise both straight legs against the band toward vertical.
- Keep the hips down and the lower back pressed into the floor.
- Lower the legs slowly as the band pulls them.
Common mistakes
Band snapping the legs down: resist it all the way; the lowering is half the work. Lower back arching as the legs drop: stop them higher. Knees softening against the pull: keep the legs long.
Breathing
Exhale as the legs rise, inhale as they lower.
