Band Low Alternate Chest Press

The band chest press from a high anchor, one arm at a time, each hand driving forward and down toward the hips.

How to do it

Setup

Back to a high anchor, split stance, one end of the band at each side of the chest.

Steps

  1. Press one hand forward and down until the arm is straight.
  2. Bring it back to the chest, then press with the other hand.
  3. Keep the hips and shoulders square on every press.

Common mistakes

Torso twisting after the pressing hand: brace; only the arm travels. Pressing straight ahead: the high anchor wants a path down toward the hips. Waiting hand drifting off the chest: park it there until its turn.

Breathing

Exhale on each press, inhale returning.
