Band Push-Up

The push-up against a tube band with handles, its middle across the upper back and the handles under the hands; the band pulls hardest at the top.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, the band across the upper back, a handle under each hand below the shoulders.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to just above the floor.
  2. Press up against the band all the way to straight arms.
  3. Pause at lockout, where the tube pulls hardest.

Common mistakes

Band sliding onto the neck: keep it across the shoulder blades. Stopping short of lockout as the band tightens: finish every rep. Hips sagging under the extra pull: brace and squeeze the glutes.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the press.
